"If you are having trouble reading a text, describe what is difficult about it first, and you will come to understand it." -Sianne Ngai Ngai said this during a lecture at UChicago this week. I have been thinking about her words since. I think "describing what is difficult about it first" can apply to understanding many things, from fellow creatures to experiences. She's a great theorist, and this is my new favorite quote to sit with for a while.
